Lied Voice : Stamatis Pakakis Photography : Anastasia Loukrezi Mua : Cathy Jones Oper(O) were invited by TEDx Academy Athens to present their own vision of 'The Journey', which was the topic of the event in 2012. In collaboration with 70 singers, actors, and musicians, Oper(O) created their version of «Wayfarer's Songs» (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen) by G. Mahler. TEDx Academy Athens viewers experienced a unified musical installation aiming to forge an atmosphere of wandering, emotion and introspection created by one single musical installation, which initiated an existential journey to explore who we are, which is our destination and what we carry in our "baggage". * Please activate the HD function before watching the video or watch it with a larger type player in 480p to avoid serious sound distortion (as YT has reduced sound quality and does not activate HD playback automatically). The previous 4 videos featured Peter Kreuder and his "Tanz-Sinfonie-Orchester"... The orchestra featured in today's video is the "Ufa-Ton-Orchester" conducted by Wilhelm Greiss. The orchestra performs a fantasy of "Ich hab' Glück in der Liebe" (Lit. "I'm lucky in love") which was featured in the 1943 comedy "Tolle Nacht" starring Marte Harell, Gustav Fröhlich and Theo Lingen who was also the movie's director. In "Tolle Nacht", 'Ich hab' Glück in der Liebe" was perfomed by Marte Harell whose voice was dubbed by the Greek soprano Anna Tassopoulos +••.••(...)). I have very little information about the orchestra and Wilhelm Greiss himself, so all info is welcome. The video features pictures of Vienna born Marte Harell +••.••(...)) who became a very popular actress after starring in "Opernball" in 1939. After marrying director Karl Hartl in 1930 she wanted to become an actress. After studying acting she became a stage actress before being discoverd for the movies... She starred in 13 movies until 1945 (Nr 14 "Die tolle Susanne" remained unfinished). An elegant lady she usually played leads in light comedies and the occasional drama... She achieved some of her biggest successes in movies that were set in Old Vienna such as "Wiener G'schichten", "Schrammeln", "Brüderlein Fein" and others.... Willi Forst chose her to be the lead in "Frauen sind keine Engel" (1943). Although some maintained that Harell's meteoric rise as a leading lady was due to her husband Karl Hartl being production chief at Wien-Film - Marte Harell truly was a popular actress. After the war she continued her career and starred in the first post-war Austrian movie "Glaube an mich" (1946). She remained active until the early 1980s. She died in 1996 no longer a household name.... In 2000 a street was named after her in the Liesing district of Vienna ("Marte Harell Gasse") where the Rosenhügel movie studios (used by Wien-Film) are located. The video also features a caricature of Theo Lingen and Marte Harell both published in a BelgianTobis-Magazine from 1941 as well as a lobby card of "Tolle Nacht" picturing Gustav Fröhlich, Marte Harell and Theo Lingen. Full credits at the end of the video. About the record : Polydor 57863B / mx. post-war pressing Recorded 1943 This record is in quite good condition.
