K. Szymanowski +••.••(...)) Słopiewnie / Word Songs to Words by Julian Tuwim, Op 46 bis, No.5 Wanda lyrics by Julian Tuwim (1894–1953) The Word Songs to words by Julian Tuwim, Op.46 bis, belongs to the third artistic period, dated to 1920-1937, is clearly affected by the folklore. In the cycle, the listener can hear also an experimental spirit of the modernist vanguard, where the Impressionism blends with the Expressionism. The songs bring an unique fantasy world, hidden between music lines and lyrics by Julian Tuwim - the poets, who invented a new lingo full of extreme grace and rich in resounding neologisms, that only slightly resemble the Polish language. The Word Songs were composed in the summer of 1921, Karol dedicated them to his sister - Stanisława Korwin-Szymanowska, who was also the first interpreter of these vocal works. English translation of lyrics: The waters of a wandering river are the home of Wanda, The moon's rays weave a white shroud over the ghostly rock, Deep in her watery grave, Wanda sings of her longing, The water combs her shining regal tresses with a silvery hand. to purchase album Melancholia please follow: (http•••)
