Nao Higano _ soprán | soprano, Enikő Ginzery _ cimbal | cimbalom The Haiku cycle is based on highly canonized and sophisticated Japanese poetry representing states of mind, heaven and the elements, fields and woods, rivers, deities, human world, birds and beasts, trees and flowers. The songs are almost aphoristic miniatures with very few notes. A haiku consists of three lines, with a 5 +••.••(...) syllable pattern; therefore numbers 5 and 7 are of some importance. The twelve songs are divided into seven moon-songs (M) and five human-songs (H) with a narrative. The sequence is as follows: M H M H M H M H M M H M; the songs contain several more or less hidden quotations. Lyrics: 1 meigetsu ya kusaki ni otoru hito no kage nádherný mesiac tieň človeka je nižší ako tieň trávy a stromov the bright autumn moon the shadows of tree and grass and those of men 2 mono iwazu kyaku to teishu to shira-giku to nehovorili nič hosť hostiteľ a biela chryzantéma they spoke no word the visitor the host and the white chrysanthemum 3 kdakete mo kudakete mo ari mizu no tsuki rozbíja sa rozbíja sa a stále je tu mesiac na vode the moon in the water broken and broken again still it is there 4 michi-nobe no mokuge wa uma ni kuware keri na okraji cesty ruže boli koňmi zožraté the rose of sharon by the roadside was eaten by the horse 5 tsuki ni e o sashitara ba yoki uchiwa kana mesiac napichnutý na držadlách aký vejár a handle on the moon and what a splendid fan 6 asamashi ya mushi naku naka ni ama hitori úbohá uprostred bzukotu hmyzu samotná mníška how pitiful among the insects a solitary nun 7 yo no naka no mono no kage yori kyó no tsuki dnešný mesiac je lepší než tieň vecí celého sveta from the shades of all things on earth today´s moon 8 meigetsu ni inukoro suteru shimobe kana pod nádherným mesiacom pes vyhodený sluhom the full moon a man-servant leaving a puppy to die 9 kogarashi to narinu katatsumuri no utsuse gai prichádza jesenná búrka prázdne ulity slimákov the storm has come the empty shell of snail 10 hitotsu to wa omowanu yo nari kyó no tsuki nepredstaviteľné že iba jediná je dnešná noc i mesiac tonight´s moon unthinkable that there was only one 11 ware yukeba tomo ni ayuminu tó-kakashi keď idem so mnou ide vzdialený strašiak it walked with me as I walked the scarecrow in the distance 12 meigetsu no goran no tóri kuzuya kana nádherný mesiac vidite taký je môj ošarpaný dom the full moon my ramshackle hut is as you see it Nao Higano (born 1965, Chiba, Japan).
