Patrice Munsel (1925-) was the youngest singer ever to debut at the Met, starring as Philine in Mignon in 1943, at the age of 17. She sang 219 performances at the Met, in 17 different roles, including Philine, Olympia, Gilda, Lucia, Rosina, Juliette, Zerlina, Adele, and Musetta, among others. Hers was the ultimate soubrette voice; light and bright, high and flexible, with a saucy, cute edge to it. She was an excellent actress, and in the 1950's moved effortlessly into film and musical comedy, and finally TV.
