His father was the composer, musicologist-folklorist Yakov Eshpai, and his mother Valentina Togaev, sister of the composer Anatoly Togaev, was a connoisseur, lover and performer of folk songs. In 1928, the family moved to Moscow. Initially, Andrei Eshpai studied music under the guidance of his father. A Red Army World War II veteran, he studied piano at Moscow Conservatory from 1948 to 1953 under Vladimir Sofronitsky, and composition under Nikolai Rakov, Nikolai Myaskovsky and Evgeny Golubev. He performed his postgraduate study under Aram Khachaturian from 1953 to 1956. He performed as a pianist performing his works. In 1965-1970 he taught composition at the Moscow Conservatory (professor). / Please support this channel (http•••)
