Marcel Mihalovici +••.••(...)) was a French composer born in Romania. After being discovered by his countryman George Enescu, Mihalovici moved to Paris in 1919, where he would study under French composer Vincent d'Indy. In the decades before WWII, Mihalovici was one of a number of emigre composers who, together, were nicknamed l'Ecole de Paris. Others included Bohuslav Martinu, Alexandre Tansman, Alexander Tcherepnin, Tibor Harsanyi, and Conrad Beck. Like Martinu and the others, Mihalovici was a strong proponent of neoclassicism. As his career went forward, his music embraced a number of other contemporary styles, including east European folk stylings, chromaticism, and dodecaphonism. As with other Francophile composers of the time, chamber music featured prominently in his output. The sonatina for oboe (or violin) and piano, op.13 was composed in the early 1920s. This work is in four movements: I. Moderato, Pastorale II. Vivo, Scherzo III. Lento, Nocturno IV. Vivo e giocoso, Rondo Fabian Menzel - oboe Bernhard Endres - piano
