Phillip Sear plays a lively mazurka from 1909 by the Polish pianist and composer Stanisław Lipski +••.••(...)). / Stanisław Lipski +••.••(...)) was born in Kraków, where his father was a jeweller. He studied piano first in Warsaw, then in Berlin, and finally (from 1902) in Vienna with Theodore Leschetizky. He returned to Krakow in 1904 and established a career teaching (at the conservatory) and composing. This piece (as well as the last in the set) is dedicated to Lipski's illustrious compatriot and fellow Leschetizky student, the pianist Ignaz Friedman.
