Alexander Goehr Allegri Stanchinsky
Allegri String Quartet Shared at one point by stanchinsky now "MUSIC?" if my memory serves me right. It has a kind of distanced, unemotional-emotional character. Very special. Available via the Avant Garde Project to download for free in lossless quality (http•••)o/mirror/agp67/index.htm
Alexei Vladimirovich Stanchinsky Alexander Goldenweiser Rachmaninov 1888 1907 1910 1914 1988
- Composer: Alexei Vladimirovich Stanchinsky (9 March 1888 / 25 September 1914) - Performers: Alexander Malkus (piano), Grigory Feigin (violin), Valentin Feigin (cello) - Year of recording: 1988 Piano Trio in D major, written between 1907-1910. In one movement, marked 'Allegro'. This one of the very few (surviving...) pieces by Stanchinsky not written for solo piano. It is a surprisingly light-hearted work, a bit folksy and oriental sounding at times. The writing features great counterpoint, like most of Stanchinsky's work. The cello seems to quote Saint-Saëns 'Le Cygne' a couple of times, and the piano trio itself reminds one of Alexander Goldenweiser's trio in memory of Rachmaninov.
