Level: Advanced Link to where to purchase the score: (http•••) Sally Whitwell Australia Award-winning Australian pianist and composer, Sally Whitwell maintains a busy freelance career from her base in Sydney. As a solo recording artist, Sally has four albums to her name. Her most recent release ‘I was flying’ is a collection of her own compositions in the art song, choral and chamber music genres, which enjoyed five weeks in the top ten of the ARIA Core Classical Charts, was nominated for the 2015 ARIA Award for Best Classical Album. As a vocal advocate for classical music by women composers, Sally was curator for a chamber music concert series in her home town Canberra: In Her Shoes featured music by women creatives across the centuries. Sally’s other great love is choral music. She is a staff conductor and pianist for Gondwana Choirs and Sydney Children’s Choir, with whom she has performed throughout Australia and in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Her choral and vocal ensemble compositions have been performed by Juice vocal ensemble, Gondwana Choirs, VOX (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs' youth ensemble), Moorambilla Voices, Leichhardt Espresso Chorus, Luminescence, Hunter Singers and the Woden Valley Youth Choir. Currently, Sally is concentrating on a number of composition projects, with several commissioned works soon to be premiered by Acacia Quartet, Ensemble Offspring, Gondwana Voices and Hunter Singers. Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus IJ Choristers from Singapore performed at the 2012 Australian International Music Festival produced by World Projects South Pacific. With performances at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Recital Hall and Darling Harbour and workshops/ masterclasses at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music the Australian International Music Festival attracts musicians from around the world June/ July each year.
