Reinhold Moritzevich Glière (Russian: Рейнгольд Морицевич Глиэр, Ukrainian: Ре́йнгольд Мо́ріцевич Гліер / Reingol'd Moritsevich Glier; born Reinhold Ernest Glier, which was later converted for standardization purposes; 11 January 1875 [O.S. 30 December 1874] – 23 June 1956), was a composer in the Russian Empire and Soviet Union, of German and Polish descent. Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 100 (1956) completed by Boris Lyatoshinsky +••.••(...)) One movement Yuko Nishino, violin and the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Yondani Butt It should be noted that despite the allocation of an opus number, the work was actually completed from the sketches by the Ukrainian composer, Boris Lyatoshinsky. We are not told in the liner notes how much input from Lyatoshinsky was involved or whether this is merely a completion of the opening movement of Gliere's projected work: it sounds like a torso, rather than a concerto that was conceived in one movement, and Gliere's late cello and horn concertos were both written in the conventional three movement form.
