Richard Wagner Franz Liszt Max Reger Moritz Moszkowsky Carl Tausig Winkler Heintz Lemare Rudolf Bibl Alexander Ritter Breitkopf 1860 1922 2015
« Of all Richard Wagner's masterpieces, Love Death from Tristan and Isolde has probably been the most transcripted one. Although the version of Franz Liszt is definitely the most famous, it has often overshadowed the ones of Max Reger, Moritz Moszkowsky, Carl Tausig, Louis Winkler, Albert Heintz, Henry Lemare, Rudolf Bibl or Alexander Ritter. It is possible to play some of them on the harp and even the one written by Liszt is technically achievable with only a few adaptations. However, because of the specificities of the piano, its effects are not far from becoming ridiculous once performed on the harp. As a consequence, this transcription for the harp is based only on the first edition of Tristan and Isolde (Breitkopf & Härtel, 1860) trying to forget all those piano versions in order not to be too much influenced by non harpistic effects. Aulis Sallinen Heintz Bach Hakala 2002 2009 2013 2014
KALEVI KIVINIEMI Finnish concert organist Kalevi Kiviniemi plays Heintz Organ of Hämeenlinna Church, Finland. Aulis Sallinen´s Preludes and Fugues op. 95b was originally written for accordion, and premiered by Mika Väyrynen in 2009. It was Kalevi Kiviniemi´s idea to create this version for organ, and he an important element in bringing it to its final form. Kiviniemi performed the premiere at the St. Alban´s Organ Festival in 2013. This version for organ remains close to the original work, with some slight changes made to allow the texture to breath better on the organ, and to adjust for church acoustics. The piece is a nod of respect towards the baroque; I have used polyphony in the style of Bach to emphasize my understanding of that era´s function as age of polyphony. Aulis Sallinen Preludes and Fugues for organ is written in 2002 and dedicated to Kalevi Kiviniemi. The work is premiered by Kalevi Kiviniemi on 14th July 2013. The Finnish premiere of this organ was given in the Hämeenlinna Church on 2nd of February 2014. Johann Adam Reincken Heintz Dietrich Buxtehude Bach Hakala 1643 1733
KALEVI KIVINIEMI Finnish concert organist Kalevi Kiviniemi plays Heintz Organ of Hämeenlinna Church, Finland. Johann Adam Reincken +••.••(...)) was, along with Dietrich Buxtehude, one of the largest influences on the organ works of J.S. Bach. When Reincken heard the young Bach improvising, he said "I though that this art was dead, but I see it lives on in you". Reincken´s effervescent Fugue in g minor is an example of the style that Bach deeply admired. Video by Miika Hakala, MWH Production. Recording by Janne Siniketo, Sinifonia.
