Contrary to reports, she was not the first officer at the scene. Two patrol officers, Karl Veitch and Rick French, were the first to arrive at the home. They searched the entire house, except the room JonBenet was later found in. It was revealed in the CBS Special, "The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey" (2016), that FBI Agent Ron Walker was the one who suggested that John Ramsey search the house 'from top to bottom." Walker said that he wanted the search done in the presence of a police officer. It wasn't clear from the interview whether he made this suggestion to Linda Arndt directly or if he relayed the suggestion to another officer who relayed this information incorrectly. Walker also stated that Linda told him, as soon as she made this suggestion to John Ramsey, he grabbed his friend Fleet White, and made a beeline for the basement. "Sgts. Paul Reichenbach and Bob Whitson, the supervisors initially in charge of the scene, told Arndt that it appeared to be a "real kidnapping." Her orders were to wait with the Ramseys and their friends for a phone call from the presumed kidnapper. The ransom note said a call would come between 8 and 10 a.m. The phones were rigged to record and trace the call. Arndt's supervisors permitted seven of the Ramseys' friends at the house to stay, Blaircom's report said. One of the first things Arndt did when she arrived was to seal off JonBenét's bedroom, which had not been done in the two hours since the first officers arrived, the report said." - Christopher Anderson, The Daily Camera (May 20, 2001) (http•••) In a March 18, 2000 deposition she stated she felt in fear for her life and the lives of everyone in the house because she thought John Ramsey was the killer and she wasn’t certain of what he may do. (Which explains why she counted the bullets and the ambiguous and often misinterpreted statement: “I wasn’t sure if all of us were going to be alive when people showed up.”) (http•••)
