Arta Florescu Lella Cincu Batton Bobescu Nicolae Herlea David Ohanesian Dan Iordachescu 1913 1963 1995
The romanian baritone Mihail Arnautu +••.••(...)) singing Valentin's aria from Faust. The recording is an excerpt from a complete Faust in romanian recorded in 1963 with Mihail Stirbei (Faust), Arta Florescu (Marguerite), Edgar Istratty (Mephisto) and Lella Cincu (Zibel), under the batton of Constantin Bobescu. Mihail Arnautu was one of the greatest romanian baritones of the 50-60s, a period when the National Opera in Bucharest was surnamed National Theatre of Opera and Baritones, because they were at least 5-6 good baritones in the theatre. I can you give only few examples: Serban Tassian, Nicolae Herlea, David Ohanesian (the greatest Oedip of all times), Dan Iordachescu, Octav Enigarescu and last, but not least, Petre Stefanescu-Goanga. Mihail Arnautu was a great Oneghin, Scarpia, Rigoletto, Escamillo, Tonio. The aria is sung in romanian.
