Charles Marie Widor Olson Wicks Notre Dame 1844 1903 1937
Charles Marie Widor was a French organist, composer and teacher, most notable for his ten organ symphonies. This movement is played by Geoff Olson, organist of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Paul, MN. The organ is a 30-rank Wicks/Hunt pipe organ, supplemented with a Hauptwerk virtual organ system, using the 48-rank, 1903 Cavaille-Coll organ at the Notre Dame de Metz in Metz, France. Distant Winds SATURDAY, MAY 22nd, 6:30pm First Lutheran Church 1515 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 The winds of the Chamber Orchestra reunite, properly distanced, for a charming program of Mozart and Gounod. These rarely performed works serve as a window into the genius of these brilliant composers, who wrote major works for winds, fully utilizing their tonal colors and technical virtuosity. This is a rare opportunity to hear the Chamber Orchestra winds doing what they do best--exploring lesser-known repertoire and revealing a side of some of your favorite composers you may have never experienced. This is a program of pure joy. PROGRAM Gounod Petite Symphonie for Winds Mozart Serenade No. 11 in E-flat Major, K. 375 Audio Eric Wicks Video Michael Lascuola
