Reinhold Moritzevich Glière (Russian: Рейнгольд Морицевич Глиэр, Ukrainian: Ре́йнгольд Мо́ріцевич Гліер / Reingol'd Moritsevich Glier; born Reinhold Ernest Glier, which was later converted for standardization purposes; 11 January 1875 [O.S. 30 December 1874] – 23 June 1956), was a composer in the Russian Empire and Soviet Union, of German and Polish descent. Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 100 (1956) completed by Boris Lyatoshinsky +••.••(...)) One movement Yuko Nishino, violin and the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Yondani Butt It should be noted that despite the allocation of an opus number, the work was actually completed from the sketches by the Ukrainian composer, Boris Lyatoshinsky. We are not told in the liner notes how much input from Lyatoshinsky was involved or whether this is merely a completion of the opening movement of Gliere's projected work: it sounds like a torso, rather than a concerto that was conceived in one movement, and Gliere's late cello and horn concertos were both written in the conventional three movement form.

A leading member of the new generation of twentieth-century Ukrainian composers, he was awarded a number of accolades, including the honorary title of People's Artist of Ukrainian . Boris Lyatoshinsky was born 3rd, 1895 in Zhytomyr, in the Russian Empire (now Ukraine). This town is well known for its cultural life. Several well-known people originated here, including the pianist Svyatoslav Richter, philosopher Nikolai Berdiaev and composer Ignazi Yan Paderevsky.he attended Kiev University and later the newly established Kiev Conservatory where he studied composition with Reinhold Glière in 1914. Lyatoshynsky graduated from Kiev University in 1918 and from the Kiev Conservatory in 1919.After the death of Stalin, Lyatohinsky at least was free to speak his own symphonic mind, making free use of motive development, dissonances and atonal language. The Slavic Concerto by outstanding Ukrainian composer Boris Lyatoshinsky (1894 – 1968) is one of most interesting piano concertos in Ukrainian music. The concerto was composed in 1953 , dedicated to the great pianist Tatiana Nikolaeva who premiered in 1954 , in Riga. The “Slavic concerto” presents the images derived from the Ukrainian, Russian ,Slovak and Polish folk sources. The composer as a real artist and penetrating symphonist , shows the historical unity of the Slavic peoples through revealing the common features of their music. The First movement ( Allegro) is formed with Ukrainian and Russian folk tunes of heroic and epic character .
