Fumi Kaneko and William Bracewell rehearse the balcony pas de deux from The Royal Ballet's Romeo and Juliet for #WorldBalletDay. Watch the full stream at (http•••) The rehearsal features coaching from former Royal Ballet principals and répétiteurs Leslie Collier and Ed Watson. Since its 1965 premiere with The Royal Ballet, Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet has become a great modern ballet classic of the world repertory. The nuanced and detailed choreography gives dancers in the lead roles a wealth of opportunity for differing interpretations of the doomed lovers. Evocative designs by Nicholas Georgiadis bring the colour and action of Renaissance Verona, where a busy market all too quickly bursts into sword fighting and a family feud leads to tragedy for both the Montagues and the Capulets. Prokofiev’s ravishing score sweeps this dramatic ballet towards its inevitable, emotional end. Enjoy this video? Subscribe to our channel to receive notifications about new ballet and opera clips.

Frederick Wilhelm the Great Elector played a large role in the history of Brandenburg-Prussia. After all, he pulled Brandenburg out of the mud when it was, quite literally, on the verge of the abyss. One of the ways he did this was by creating Prussia’s standing army - a development that can be considered revolutionary at the time. When he became elector in 1640, throughout Europe, it was the norm to hire mercenaries to fight wars. The Elector began using conscription to professionalize his army and eventually the Prussian army would become known for its incredible discipline and disproportionate size to the population of Brandenburg-Prussia. ►Consider Supporting HoH: (http•••) ►My Twitter: (http•••) My videos tend to get arbitrarily demonetized.
