We hope you enjoy the first episode of our guest artist series, featuring Pierce Wang and Charlotte Wong! - Pierce Wang, Violin I Pierce Wang is a rising senior at Stanford Online High School and a scholarship student in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) Pre-college where he studies the violin with Ms. Alena Tsoi. Pierce gave his first solo recital when he was 10 years old, the “All Saints’ Day” program. In the same year, Pierce was selected to appear on the NPR, From the Top (FTT) live taping show #284 in Rochester (NY). Pierce has since soloed with several orchestras in the Bay Area including the Fremont Symphony Orchestra and Saratoga Symphony (under Dr./Maestro Jason Klein), Symphony Parnassus (Maestro Stephen Paulson), Sonoma County Philharmonic, and Solano Symphony (Maestro Semyon Lohss), performing violin concertos by Conus, Saint Saens, and Prokofiev. Pierce also gives performances at fund-raisers and local nursing homes in order to give back to the community. - Charlotte Wong, Piano Charlotte Wong, 17, is a rising freshman at UC Berkeley majoring in microbial biology and bioengineering. A recent graduate of the pre-college program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she has studied with Professor Corey McVicar since 2015 and began her piano studies at the age of five. A 2020 National YoungArts Foundation Merit winner, she has received prizes in various competitions and has been invited to perform in Poland and Chicago. In 2018, Charlotte was featured in the Live From Here variety show aired on NPR, performing at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. During the summer of 2019, Charlotte participated in the Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, Music@Menlo Chamber Music Institute, and the Southeastern Piano Festival.
