Lanzelot Oper in 15 Bildern von Paul Dessau Libretto von Heiner Müller nach Motiven von Hans Christian Andersen und der Märchenkomödie »Der Drache« von Jewgeni Schwarz, Mitautorin Ginka Tscholakowa Mit der Neuinszenierung der seit 1972 nicht mehr gespielten Oper »Lanzelot« wagen wir eine der bedeutendsten Wiederentdeckungen dieser Spielzeit. Ritter Lanzelot will Elsa heiraten, die dem Drachen zum Verzehr bestimmt ist, und fordert die Bestie zum Kampf heraus. Das Volk wünscht den Kampf nicht, da es in einem einträglichen Arrangement mit dem Drachen und dessen totalitären Herrschaftsmethoden lebt. Lanzelot gewinnt den Kampf. Während er, obwohl nur verwundet, für tot erklärt wird, schwingt sich die zweite Riege der Herrschenden zum Nachfolger des Drachens auf. Als Lanzelot schließlich zurückkehrt, öffnet er die Gefängnisse und führt den Umsturz des Regimes herbei. Wird die befreite Gesellschaft in der Lage sein, ohne Totalitarismen zu leben? Paul Dessau zählt mit seiner zitatreichen, humorvollen und vor allem äußerst theatermächtigen Musik zu den bedeutenden Komponisten des vergangenen Jahrhunderts. Heiner Müller, heute ein Klassiker, schrieb ein großartiges Libretto, das der Bezeichnung »Märchenkomödie« voll gerecht wird. Regie führt der wichtigste Musiktheaterregisseur der letzten Jahre, Peter Konwitschny, der mit seinen Interpretationen immer wieder neue Maßstäbe gesetzt hat. Dafür wurde er 2018 zum sechsten Mal zum »Regisseur des Jahres« gekürt. Eine Produktion, die Sie nicht verpassen sollten!
