Au delà du hasard (Beyond Chance) is a composition for three women's voices (SSA) and four instrumental groups, by the French composer Jean Barraqué, written in 1958–59. It is the second part of a projected but unfinished cycle of works based on Hermann Broch's 1945 novel The Death of Virgil, and uses texts written by the composer based on a quotation from Broch's novel, in the French translation by Albert Kohn. A performance lasts about forty minutes. In January 2001 the Orchestra of St Cecilia began its project to perform all two hundred of J.S.Bach's Church Cantatas in the beautiful - both acoustically and architecturally - St Ann's Church Church, Dawson Street, Dublin. Ten years and sixty concerts later, this vast artistic undertaking was completed on Sunday 7th March 2010, an historic musical occasion. This is a video recording from the final concert on Sunday 7 March 2010. J.S.
