Shinpei Nakayama Kobe Takahashi 1887 1892 1952 1970 2020
[ Explanation of the term "march" written by the translator ] The term ‘march’ originally means ‘a piece of music composed to accompany marching or with a rhythm suggestive of marching’, but decades ago pieces of music attached to interludes between movies in theaters in Kobe, Kyoto and Osaka, were called ‘march’ and became popular. Since then the term was widely used as something rhapsodic in local-news pages or titles of movies and records. [ Music Information ] Tokyo March(東京行進曲) Composed br Shinpei Nakayama (中山晋平 1887-1952) Lyrics by Yaso Saijyou (西條八十 1892-1970) Recording 29th Jan. 2020 at Creative Pot Egota Studio Soprano : Eriko Iida Arr. & Pf. : Yunosuke Takahashi Image movie location : Tokyo (Ginza, Marunouchi, Yaesu, Asakusa, Shinjuku) Lyric translator : Prof. Kimio Takahashi [ Arranged sheet music (Shop) ] (http•••) [ Lyrics ] The willows in Ginza make us feel nostalgic for The days when frisky fresh girls then, coquettish elder women now whom no one knows, Broke loose from all restrains Dancing to the sound of jazz, sitting up with liquor late at night, Ending in shedding tears like rain. Behind those office windows of the Marunouchi Buildings Which accommodate lots of young lovers, Someone might write a letter with tears in one’s eyes. Let’s keep roses which happened to be picked up during rush hours As a token to remember the lover. Tokyo is, in a way, little and narrow because of love, Though it seems to be vast and boundless. Let’s have a secret meeting at the chic Asakusa, You by way of the subway, me bus ride. No one would find it ever possible to control passage of love. Shall we see a movie, or shall we have tea? Or better yet, we would rather run away together From Shinjuku by way of Odakyu Line. The same moon rising over the Musashino forests Come out also over a department store in ever-changing Shinjuku.
