Gaetano Maria Schiassi Arcangelo Corelli Mund Weise Colla
Gaetano Maria Schiassi Arcangelo Corelli Mund Colla
(http•••) (collection "Baroque Christmas Concertos for Choir") (http•••) (single edition) With his celebrated Pastorale from his "Christmas Concerto", Arcangelo Corelli triggered a veritable boom in the Italy of the Baroque Era. In a sensitive arrangement by Michael Aschauer, this present edition makes the pastorale by Gaetano Maria Schiassi for the first time accessible to choirs. The underlain lyrics, which are subtly based on the music (with a singable English translation), have been taken from a Christmas poem by the Baroque poet Sig(is)mund von Birken. Thus, a touching new Christmas song for mixed choir SATB a cappella has been composed in which solemnity and gentle pastoral melody are consummately unified. The organ/piano accompaniment (ad lib), which has been mostly orientated on the choral setting (colla parte), provides support for the vocal parts and lends the choral arrangement an added celebratory splendour.
