Emil Bohnke Busch Mendelssohn Busch Quartet 1888 1920 1928
Most of the little known composers I champion on this channel were quite prolific, but Bohnke +••.••(...)) only completed 16 opuses, including a symphony, two concertos, piano and chamber music. Although a German, he was born in Poland, and studied in Germany. He was a prominent conductor and viola player as well as a composer (he played in the famous Busch Quartet), but his life (and that of his wife) was cut short by a car accident while house-hunting in Pomerania. This elusive piece from 1920 is in a late romantic/expressionist style, and the set from which it comes is dedicated to the composer's mother-in-law, Maria von Mendelssohn / / Played by Phillip Sear (http•••) (Email: •••@••• WhatsApp: (http•••) )
