Arnoldo Sartorio Sartorio Scriabin Czerny 1200 1853 1912 1936
Arnoldo Sartorio +••.••(...)) was a German composer of Italian ancestry. Born in Frankfurt, he studied and worked in Germany. He wrote very many salon and educational piano pieces, and a contemporary magazine marked his achieving Op. 1000 in 1912 (he later exceeded Op. 1200) (http•••) . As with Czerny some of these high opus numbers are sets of pieces and not individual works, so he was genuinely prolific. I am not sure what the opus number of this fun piece is, as it was extracted from an album. My thumbnail features a few of the figures in Boticelli's 'Primavera'. / / Played by Phillip Sear (http•••) (Email: •••@••• WhatsApp: (http•••) )

This attractive gavotte - 'In the lovely time of roses' - probably takes its inspiration from a German folk verse, set to music by Mendelssohn: "O Jugend, o schöne Rosenzeit! Die Wege, die Stege sind mit Blumen bestreut; Der Himmel steht offen, man schaut die Engelein. O könnt' ich, Herzliebsten, stets bei dir sein!" / / Played by Phillip Sear (http•••) (Email: •••@••• WhatsApp: (http•••) )
