Gabriels Oboe, written by Ennio Morricone and played on organ and oboe by Nenad Leonart and Linda Alijaj. This is a tribute to the great musician and composer Ennio Morricone, who sadly passed away in the early morning today, July 6th 2020. Thank you Maestro for the wonderful music, may the Angels welcome you and embrace you with open arms! After hearing the sad news today, I immediately wanted to make a tribute to Maestro Morricone today. With Linda Alijaj on the oboe we decided to perform this piece and recorded it over long distance with our smartphones, me in white and her in black, in honor of the amazing musician and composer Ennio Morricone. We‘ve played this beautiful music together a few years ago and wanted to share it with you through this performance in memory of this great man. * Ennio Morricone Biography Ennio Morricone, (10 November 1928 – 6 July 2020) was an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and trumpet player who wrote music in a wide range of styles. Morricone composed over 400 scores for cinema and television, as well as over 100 classical works. His score to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) is considered one of the most influential soundtracks in history and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. His filmography includes over 70 award-winning films. * Gabriel's Oboe "Gabriel's Oboe" is the main theme for the 1986 film The Mission directed by Roland Joffé. The theme was written by Italian composer Ennio Morricone, and has since been arranged and performed several times by famous artists. The theme has been called "unforgettable" and a "celebrated oboe melody". The soundtrack for the film was very well received amongst critics, being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score and earning Morricone the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. In the film, the theme is most prominently used when the protagonist, the Jesuit Father Gabriel, walks up to a waterfall and starts playing his oboe, aiming to befriend the natives with his music so he can carry his missionary work in the New World. The Guaraní tribesmen, who have been stalking him from a distance, approach Gabriel for the first time, puzzled by the sounds of the unknown instrument. * Nenad Leonart Biography Nenad Leonart is a musician based in Switzerland. He was born in Nis, Serbia, where he started to play piano when he was six years old. In 2001 he continued learning the piano with Robert Kolinsky at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich. He started early with public performances, as a soloist as well as a chamber musician and claimed several first prizes at national music competitions. After studying piano for two years at the ZHdK he moved his focus to early music and restarted his music studies on the harpsichord in Zurich with Michael Biehl. He graduated with honor his Bachelor of Arts and his Master Pedagogy studies and continues his studies in his second Master of Performance on the harpsichord. Since last year, he has started his own series of concerts in his home studio in Greifensee and he has moved into the music video production business. * Linda Alijaj Biography Linda Alijaj started to play the oboe at the age of 10 at the Conservatory of Zurich. She did her Bachelor at Zurich University of Arts with Prof. Thomas Indermühle and currently she’s finishing her master’s at Hochschule für Musik Basel with Prof. Emanuel Abbühl. Alongside her studies of the modern oboe, she did a minor in Baroque Oboe with Prof. Katharina Arfken at Schola Cantorum Basel. Regularly she plays in different Orchestras in Switzerland and abroad, with which she toured all over the world and performed in venues like Tonhalle Zürich, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Seoul Art Center and Walt Disney Hall LA. Bischoff Berg Lichter Cameron Carpenter Carpenter Christian Reichart Jüngst Gast Martinu Konstantin Scherbakov Biehl 2001 2020 2021
Mai 2020 beim Seniorenheim in Zürich Zollikon. . (http•••) (http•••) .
