For the 2022 Norfolk & Norwich Festival, soprano Carolyn Sampson, pianist Simon Crawford-Philips and violinist Lawrence Power performed a programme inspired by Jenny Lind. Even though Franz Schubert died at age 31, he left this world far richer than when he was born. He left us symphonies, chamber music, sonatas for piano and for other instruments, AND also 600 songs. One of these songs is based on a poem titled “Heidenroeslein”, translated as rose on a meadow. It tells us about a little boy who sees a lovely rose growing on a meadow.
