This is a valuable major Liszt work from his first book of "Years of Pilgrimage". It's quite thoughtful and introverted music, dealing with psychological matter from pioneer romantic figure Senancour's novel Obermann about a young man goes out in nature to seek answers to life's hard questions. But over the span of this 14 mins long musical essay, you also see the amazing view from the mountain tops, full of Hope and glory. With pianist Henrik Kilhamn. Video: https://youtu.be/dDiJJZZKxnk

The traditional Chinese festival Qingming Festival is commemorated to honor and pay respects to ancestors. Flowers such as plum blossoms, peach blossoms, and peonies, which bloom during the Qingming Festival, carry profound cultural connotations. They serve as emotional symbols to express respect and nostalgia for deceased loved ones, while also symbolizing the vitality and Hope of life.
Thanks for sticking with me through this 5 day challenge! Today, we recapped a bit about the three pillars of Time, Money, and Joy that are available for us to adjust all the time, within our portfolio careers. I Hope you've been able to take a little bit of agency around these pillars this week! Here’s my question - NOW WHAT? What are you going to do with the time you’ve created, the income you’ve improved, the space you’ve opened up by saying NO? What is the project you really want to see in the world? Is it an artistic project? An educational one? Is there a new income stream you want to build for yourself? Because it is UP TO YOU. Today I opened early enrollment for the Happiest Musician Accelerator, a three month program that helps musicians to uncap their income and thrive in their creative career. I invite you to book a call with me so we can chat about what is going on in your life, what you Hope to create, and whether the program is a good fit for you. In my experience, I’ve found that this discovery call itself can have a lot of value for people, whether or not you decide to go forward and enroll - there’s a real magic to exploring your ideas with a live person. On that call you’ll get a taste of the way I might coach you in the program. I'm passionate about this topic because I want to see more creatives thriving in the world. Your artistry MATTERS.
Dexter Filkins is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, former Iraq War correspondent for the New York Times, and author of the bestselling book, “The Forever War.” He’s currently a staff writer for The New Yorker. In this episode, Filkins recalls how Ravel’s music gave him respite during his “nightmare years” covering the war in Iraq. He explains how Ravel, who served as an ambulance driver during World War I, balances suffering and Hope in the second movement of his Piano Concerto in G Major. The performance of Ravel’s "Adagio" from his Concerto for Piano in G Major featured on this episode comes from the 1998 Deutsche Grammophon album "Ravel: Piano Concertos; Valses nobles et sentimentales," featuring pianist Krystian Zimerman as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of Pierre Boulez.
