S. Bach where the strong imprint of Italian music of the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th centuries, with its flamboyant and virtuoso concertante violins, is revealed. Sony had published a part of the works recorded in 1995, within the recital "Italy in Bach". By gathering today these remaining Sony engravings, previously unreleased, with another part of the session, also unpublished to date, realized in 2000 at the Van Geest studio - and thus completing the "Bach Recital" released on Piano 21 in 2009 (P007) - Cyprien Katsaris offers us a beautiful selection of works he loves by the author of the Brandenburg Concertos, most enjoyable. Despite his short lifetime, Schubert left behind a vast oeuvre, writing over 1,500 works. The largest number of his compositions are songs for solo voice and piano (over 600). He also composed a considerable number of secular works for two or more voices, namely part songs, choruses and cantatas. He completed eight orchestral overtures and seven complete symphonies, in addition to fragments of six others. While he composed no concertos, he did write three concertante works for violin and orchestra. There is a large body of music for solo piano, including fourteen completed sonatas, numerous miscellaneous works, many short dances, and a large set of works for piano duet. There are over fifty chamber works, including some fragmentary works. His sacred output includes seven masses, one oratorio and one requiem, among other mass movements and numerous smaller compositions. -Radu Lupu, CBE (born November 30, 1945) is a Romanian concert pianist. He is the winner of three of the most prestigious awards in the field of classical piano, the George Enescu International Piano Competition, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Leeds International Pianoforte Competition. Lupu was born in Galați, Romania. He began piano studies in 1951, as a six-year-old, making his public debut in 1957, at age 12, in a concert featuring his own compositions. After completing high school Lupu continued his piano studies at the Bucharest Conservatory +••.••(...)). At the age of 16, in 1961, he was awarded a scholarship to the Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. Although trained in the Russian pianistic tradition, he is particularly noted for his interpretations of the great 19th century German and Austrian composers, especially Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the 18th century. He is also noted for performances of works by the Czech Leoš Janáček, and the Hungarian Béla Bartók. Lupu made his American debut in 1972 with the Cleveland Orchestra, with Daniel Barenboim conducting in New York City, and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, with Carlo Maria Giulini conducting. Lupu has participated in notable chamber music partnerships with, among others, the violinist Szymon Goldberg, the soprano Barbara Hendricks, and his fellow pianist, Murray Perahia. Whilst Lupu has performed with all of the major orchestras of the world and at major music festivals, he is a somewhat reclusive figure. He has regularly refused to grant interviews to journalists for over 30 years. In his concert performances, Lupu does not use a piano bench, but instead an office chair. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to music.

The young pianist is by talent, proclivity, and nationality the perfect choice to record works by his fellow Pole, Szymanowski. And therefore to record Debussy, too / whose presence in Szymanowski's musical DNA looms large. For the first time on record Rafał Blechacz plays Szymanowski's reverie-inducing music / a revelation to those unfamiliar with it. Debussy's Impressionist soundscapes (also new to Rafał Blechacz's discography) / including Pour le piano and Estampes / are a natural fit for a Chopin expert such as he.
