Lucrecia Kasilag - Ballet - Sisa (Abridged Suite) (1978) Lucrecia Kasilag conducting the CCP Philharmonic Orchestra / The ballet Sisa was presented at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on 1978. The story was based upon the characters of Sisa, her children Basilio and Crispin, and the Friar Salvi in Jose Rizal's novel Noli me Tangere. In the novel Sisa was the mother of Basilio and Crispin. She became insane and deranged when her children was lost and abused by the Friars. The ballet is about Friar Salvi finding the grave of Sisa, seeking for forgiveness. The ghost of Sisa and her children appeared in the fashion of the Japanese Noh. Sisa reminds him of her tragedy, before condemning Salvi. The music of Kasilag originally included chanting voices, harpsichord, guitar, synthesizer, and Philippine percussion instruments. For this recording, it has been abridged into a Suite. / Recording: Kasilag East/West LP My blog on Philippine Music: (http•••)
