Seine Cousins waren die Komponisten Ethelbert und Arthur Nevin, und er war der Sohn des Komponisten und Geschäftsmanns George Balch Nevin. Nevin war ab 1918 Organist der First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, und schrieb die meisten seiner Kompositionen für Orgel. Er war auch als Autor tätig und veröffentlichte Bücher über Orgeltechnik. Seine lebhafte "Toccata" ist im Stil der französischen Romantik geschrieben, mit einem ruhigen Mittelteil, der die Flötenregister der Orgel einsetzt. / Gordon B. Nevin +••.••(...)): Toccata in D minor Nevin was a member of a musical family of Edgeworth, Pennsylvania (USA). His cousins were the composers Ethelbert and Arthur Nevin, and he was the son of composer and businessman George Balch Nevin. The Balch Family is one of the Colonial and Revolutionary families of Pennsylvania. Nevin was organist of First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, from 1918. Most of his compositions were for organ. He was also a writer, publishing books on organ technique. His lively Toccata is written in French Romantic style, with a quiet centre section.
