As a university professor and composer at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, I have always tried to inject a composition component into the first-year harmony and analysis course (MUSC-191). In recent years, the students in this course have had to write a prelude for solo piano in the fall term and by way of introduction to the possibilities of what a prelude can be, I have played one of my own 24 Preludes for Solo Piano each week for the students. This fits nicely into the 24-week duration of a full-year course at Queen's. With the 2020/21 academic year requiring online instruction of this course due to COVID-19 restrictions, I decided to record a weekly video presentation/performance. Initially I had made intended for these videos to be set for private viewing only by the current students in MUSC-191, but some upper year students, hearing of the videos, requested permission to see them. I have, therefore, decided to make the videos available for public viewing, but do note that the specific intent of the videos is to connect with my MUSC-191 class. If interested, do check my website for information on purchasing the score: (http•••)
