Paganini Bunch Sivori Vuillaume
Itinerari Paganiniani «Virtuous, Diabolical, Contradictory» are the words we usually hear when debating about Nicolò Paganini. The music, for me, is the opportunity to talk, to tell about what's on the inside through the music. I am always eager to prove that, «virtuousity» in itself or a bunch of notes played in a split second, do not differentiate between an excellent musician and another. What, really distinguish is one's rich interior world, the desire to discover novelties, improve oneself, show one's emotion and a true passion for life. I am, absolutely, sure that, Paganini with his own language wanted to convey his feelings, sometimes pain, very often love, and he did it as we do, except that his richer and more contradictory inner self - a hopeless romantic - expresses with the scores instead with words. I have had the honour to convey my vision of his immense Op.1, with the 24 Caprices and the 4 Studies recently discovered, playing his violin the «SIVORI» specially made for the Great Maestro by J.B.Vuillaume. It is the complete recording of all his Caprices together, played on the instrument belonged to Paganini, as a world first. «NICOLÒ PAGANINI 24+» is out now!
Antonín Dvořák Cortot David Popper Gustav Mahler Michel Strauss Vuillaume Concertgebouw Amsterdam Salle Cortot Verbier Festival Dvořák Hall Rudolfinum Rudolfinum Stuttgarter Kammerorchester Netherlands Symphony Orchestra 2004 2021
For me, this piece by Dvořák will always have a special meaning. It was the obligatory 'imposée' for my audition for the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Four weeks before our auditions, all the candidates heard that they would have to practice this piece for their audition. Even though I had not played the composition before, I could not be happier with the choice of this imposée: Dvořák is and has always been one of the biggest inspirations for me as a composer, but through his music also for me as a musician. The very start of my interest in music started with two of his compositions: his 9th symphony and, of course, the Cello Concerto. As a three-year-old child (with a gigantic head…) I would try to conduct these pieces from my child seat. So, I did not mind working on this wonderful composition at all! Listening back this recording, which was made short before my audition, still stresses me out a little bit... but having been accepted into the cello class of CNSMDP, it is mostly a very happy memory for me now! A big thank-you to Jorian for his wonderful playing! Please take a look at his website for more information: (http•••) or at his YouTube-channel for his most recent recordings: (http•••) Antonín Dvořák - Rondo in g-minor, op. 94 for cello and piano Thomas Prechal, cello Jorian van Nee, piano I was greatly helped with the camerawork of my talented sister Larissa (check out her YouTube-channel and website: (http•••) If you enjoyed this video, let me know by hitting the like-button! Thanks for listening and I hope to see you again in another video! Already from a young age, cellist and composer Thomas Prechal (30/11/2004) has been grasped by every aspect of music: from playing the cello, to composing his own pieces, improvising on the cello and the piano, music theoretical analysis and the beauty of bringing people together with the music. As a 'composing cellist', Thomas performs his own pieces with other repertoire, adding his own voice both as a cellist as well as a composer. Thomas is regularly invited for concerts that have brought him not only to halls in the Netherlands (Concertgebouw Amsterdam) but also in France (Salle Cortot), Belgium, Germany, Switzerland (Verbier Festival), Austria, Spain (Auditorio de Galicia), the Czech Republic (Dvořák Hall, Rudolfinum Prague) and Hungary. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras as Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchestr Pforzheim, Real Filharmonía de Galicia and North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. Thomas is prizewinner at numerous competitions among which the 'David Popper', 'Gustav Mahler', 'Edmond Baert' and 'Bohuš Heran' international cello competitions and 'Princess Christina' composition competition. In 2021, Thomas received the Verbier Festival Special Prize of Merit and the Special Prize of the Zlín Region during the international festival Hudební Kroměříž in the Czech Republic. As a composer, Thomas Prechal has been commissioned by a.o. Festival Young Talent Schiermonnikoog, Royal Choir 'La Bonne Espérance', Gaudeamus Muziekweek and North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra. His oeuvre includes many chamber music works for different ensembles, as well as cello solo pieces and orchestral works. Thomas began playing cello at the age of five with Lenian Benjamins and is currently taking lessons with Jan-Ype Nota at the Academie voor Muzikaal Talent and Michel Strauss at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. He plays on a cello made by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume on loan from the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.
