Adolph Baumbach Baumbach Rhode Germania Musical Society 1856
The Troubadour Polka, by Adolph Baumbach was composed in 1856 for the Germania Musical Society and was performed during their summers in Newport, Rhode Island. The photos are of Miramar, built by George Widener, who died on the Titanic while the home was being designed. His wife, Eleanor Widener, who was rescued in a lifeboat, completed construction. “Beautiful Dreamer Arranged With Brilliant Variations” has been digitally composited by computer in synthesized piano format from the original sheet music utilizing Noteworthy Composer music notation software. “Beautiful Dreamer” was written by Stephen Foster and published posthumously in 1864. A. Baumbach is credited for arranging this version with variations on the theme in 1865. A. Baumbach (Adolph) was “born in Germany, about 1830, died in Chicago, 1880. He removed to America and, in 1885, settled in Boston. He was a teacher of the pianoforte and the organ, and many of his compositions were for instruction on the pianoforte; he also compiled a collection for the use of quartet choirs”.
