He has graduated from Babīte Music School where his teacher was Anita Roze and currently Maksims is the first-course student at Emīls Dārziņš Music School (E.Testeļeca class). He has participated in competitions such as the Latvian State Competition (1st place), Karlis Davidov's International Cellist Competition (1st place), and the JSfest International competition in Finland (1st place). Maksims has also received a prize from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. Performing internationally with many of the world’s foremost conductors and instrumentalists, he is also founder and leader of the ‘Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle’ at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. A multiple award winner, he is acclaimed for his expressive musicianship, exuberant virtuosity, and for the deep sonority of his 1701 Matteo Goffriller cello. Live cello masterclass of the Riga Jurmala Online Music Academy with John Sharp, principal cello of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. At age 27, John Sharp became one of the youngest principal players in the history of the CSO when he was appointed to the position in 1986. A top prizewinner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, he has appeared as soloist with the CSO in performances of the Britten Symphony for Cello and Orchestra with Mstislav Rostropovich conducting, the Beethoven Triple Concerto with Itzhak Perlman and Daniel Barenboim, several Chicago premieres and in numerous concertos. He has been featured twice as soloist with Music Director Riccardo Muti. Dvorak - Cello Concerto in B minor, Op.104: 1 mvt Allegro Klāvs Jankevics is a 23-year-old Latvian cellist, and for the past four years he has been studying cello under prof. Eleonora Testelica at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. When he understood that he wants to play the cello professionally, he started to actively participate in masterclasses both in Latvia and abroad. He also has taken part in many competitions as he sees them as a motivating tool for his professional development. Klāvs has successfully participated in K. Davidov's International cellist competition, “Virtuoso&Belcanto” competition in Italy (3rd place and certificate of acknowledgment), and in the JVLMA String competition where he received 2nd place. He is also actively working in the field of chamber music – playing in a string quartet, piano quintet, and piano trio. Over the last half-year, he has improved his knowledge and skills at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama as a part of the Erasmus+ program. / www.riga-jurmala.com
