Poulenc: Trio for Piano, Oboe and Bassoon (1926) Herman D. Koppel, piano Waldemar Wolsing, oboe Carl Bloch, bassoon Recorded c. 1950 in Denmark for Metronome Records, on 78-rpm matrices K-7 through K-10, and issued as CL 3000 and CL 3001, two ten-inch 78-rpm records. Poulenc's Trio is in three movements: 1. Lent; Presto (at 1:10) 2. Andante con moto (at 5:16) 3. Rondo: Très vif (at 8:26) Metronome Records was founded as an independent jazz label in Sweden in 1949 by two brothers, Lars and Anders Burman; in 1950, a Danish branch was founded by Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, better known as Bent Fabric, composer of "Alley Cat", a piano solo popular in the 1960s. Metronome is highly regarded as a jazz label; its classical offerings were few but notable, and included European 78-rpm transfers of recordings originally issued as LPs on the American Dial label. These include Schoenberg's Third String Quartet, played by the New Pro Arte Quartet, and Bartók's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion, played by William Masselos, Maro Ajemian, Sol Goodman and Abraham Marcus.
