Victor Dolidze 1890 1910 1917 1919 1933
Viktor Isidorovich Dolidze (ვიქტორ ისიდორეს ძე დოლიძე, 1890–1933) was a Soviet-Georgian composer. Victor Dolidze was born on 18 July 1890 in the city of Ozurgeti, Kutaisi Governorate in a poor peasant family. He studied at Tiflis commercial school. In 1910 he won the first prize at a local mandolin contest[which?]. After his high-school graduation he attended the Kiev Commercial Institute, and concurrently began to work in a music school for violin and composition. In 1917 he graduated from college and returned to Georgia and dedicated himself to music. Viktor Dolidze is the author of several operas, including the first Georgian comic opera (Opera buffa) Keto and Kote (with his own libretto based on the comedy Khanuma by Avksenty Tsagareli, 1919). Viktor Dolidze died on 24 May 1933 in Tiflis
Zakaria Paliashvili Dolidze Medea Amiranashvili David Gamrekeli 1923 1937 1960
Zakaria Paliashvili's opera "Daisi" was written and premiered in 1923. This date is perhaps the most important watershed for Georgian music / there's Georgian music before and after "Daisi". Before, Georgian music only entailed regional and urban folklores and the humble efforts to combine them with big classical forms (Mizandari, Jabadari, Dolidze, Paliashvili's earlier works). "Daisi" was the first ever Georgian classical grand masterpiece, built entirely on Georgian folk aesthetics and prepared for standing the test of time. It has passed this test on A+ level / 90 years after, its themes are the foundation of Georgian national anthem. Much has beenwritten about "Daisi", so I feel no need to add anything more / but it was almost impossible to hear it over the internet. I hope now this problem is solved once and for all. I'm offering two recordings: 1) made in 1960 2) made in 1937, directed by Evgeni Mikeladze, who abridged some instrumental sections.
