"Let's Face the Music and Dance" is a song written in 1936 by Irving Berlin for the film Follow the Fleet, where it was introduced by Fred Astaire and featured in a celebrated dance duet with Astaire and Ginger Rogers. It is also used in Pennies from Heaven (1981 film), where Astaire's voice is lip-synched by Steve Martin, and in a celebrated Morecambe and Wise sketch involving newsreader Angela Rippon. Barbra Streisand performed a line in her "Color Me Barbra Medley" from the TV special and album "Color Me Barbra". In "New Killer Star", song from David Bowie 2003 album Reality, there's a reference of the title before the chorus.

Solitary Soirée No. 7 BRANDON LINCOLN SNYDER - Piece Following the Prelude of J. S. Bach's 2nd Cello Suite (2016) Jacob Tews, viola Program notes: 0:00 Performance: 1:57/ More about the piece: The Bach Prelude is an essential part of the overall performance, as much of the Piece Following the Prelude of J. S. Bach’s 2nd Cello Suite is directly related to the Prelude. The harmony of the piece is derived from the prelude. It is often even a direct borrowing from it. However, there are rhythms and phrase contours that work against the rhythms of the changing harmonies. Much contemporary music deals with very exact notation. However, the tempo and dynamics of this piece have a degree of fluidity. The primary characteristic of this piece is its phrasing. The piece deals with the harmonic rhythm (that is, the rhythm at which harmony is presented through time) of the Prelude. The repeats, overlapping rhythm patterns, implied 2 voice passages, and changes in tempo all serve the purpose of manipulating harmonic rhythm. Commissioned sometime in the back-end of 2015, Piece Following the Prelude of J. S. Bach's 2nd Cello Suite is written completely and unequivocally for Wesley K Chou. -excerpted from performance notes by Brandon Lincoln Snyder More about Brandon: Originally from Southern California, Korean American composer Brandon Lincoln Snyder celebrates the mundane and sacred through music. Brandon is currently the assistant producer at Monday Evening Concerts, and lives in Stuttgart Germany, where he is pursuing his masters in composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst with Martin Schüttler. (http•••)/ The Solitary Soirées are a series of living room "mini-concerts," in which I present works primarily for solo viola. Many of the pieces are written by living composers, some specifically for this project; other works will include music which might be less familiar, from all musical eras. Peel Mozart Grieg 1912 1975 2001
' John Peel ' in the style of Mozart ' Loch Lomond ' in the style of Grieg / The British pianist and broadcaster Joseph Cooper +••.••(...)) had a varied career, but is best remembered as the chairman of the 1960s - 70s BBC TV show ' Face the Music '. This was a panel game featuring a panel of popular humorists who had to answer various questions. There was always a ' Hidden Melody ' round in which the panellists had to guess the identity of a tune hidden in an 'improvisation' in the style of a famous composer. The subtlety of the improvisations - in which Cooper would quote from various works of the composer as well as the hidden tune - was such that I am sure he would have thought them out well beforehand! The melodies were never that obvious, and I was always amazed that the panel guessed them (maybe they were tipped off by the show's producers!). In 1975 Paxtons published a selection of six improvisations which Cooper transcribed from the broadcasts, and also issued as a recording. I think that these two pieces are good examples of his work, and (unlike some of the improvisations) feature well-known tunes! / / Played by Phillip Sear (http•••) (Email: •••@••• WhatsApp: (http•••) )
