Funky viola in the Musée de la musique in the Cité de la Musique in Paris, France. Seen on my 2015 trip to Paris to play with an orchestra at the Conservatoire de Paris. Nowadays, classical music is all too often referred to as a “dying art”: and it is. The elegant sonatas of Bach and dramatic operas of Wagner are often lost to songs with booty-popping beats and repetitive lyrics such as “Watch Me” by Silento or “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson.
