Brussels hustles in new boss
Hit by a minor tsunami of criticism after firing its German music chief Ulrich Hauschild, the Bozar Bozar (Palais des Beaux-Arts) has promoted his assistant Jérome Giersé as the new chief. He’s younger and cheaper. That’s all we know about him. Like most unscrutinised appointments in Brussels, the rest is silence.

Brussels sacks its music chief
The German director Ulrich Hauschild has been dismissed as head of the Bozar (Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles), the hub of the Euro capital’s musical activities. The hall is shut and is piling up deficits so the committee decided to save on the director’s salary. He had been in the job for eight years. Expect […]

Urtext myths 4: Whose score is it anyway?
[…] absence of proper Critical Notes means they don’t really function like a true scholarly edition, anyway. So, my acquisition of the Brahms symphonies has reached an impasse at the halfway point.
