As a youth, Fröst began musical studies on violin at age 5. At age 8, he started to learn the clarinet. He studied with Hans Deinzer in Germany and Sölve Kingstedt and Kjell-Inge Stevensson in Stockholm.Fröst's work in contemporary music includes collaborations with Anders Hillborg, Krzysztof Penderecki, Kalevi Aho, Rolf Martinsson, Bent Sørensen, Victoria Borisova-Ollas, Karin Rehnqvist and Sven-David Sandström.Fröst was artistic leader of the Vinterfest music festival for 10 seasons, concluding his tenure in 2015. He became joint artistic director of the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival in 2010, and served in that until 2015. He has been a conductor-in-association with the Norrköpings Symfoniorkester (Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra). […] Tanglewood festival appearances as BSO Music Director Designate, Andris Nelsons will lead four concerts, July 11, 12, 19, and 20. Mr. Nelsons’ first concert with the BSO will be an all-Dvořák program, with the composer’s symphonic poem The Noonday Witch, the Violin Concerto with soloist Anne-Sophie Mutter, and the Symphony No. 8 (7/11). For his second BSO program on July 19, Maestro Nelsons will be joined by Swedish trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger performing his compatriot Rolf Martinsson‘s Trumpet Concerto, on a program with music by Brahms and Tchaikovsky. The following Sunday afternoon (7/20), Maestro Nelsons will open his BSO program with Christopher Rouse‘s Rapture, followed by Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, with violin soloist Joshua Bell, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. Conductor Andris Nelsons, will become the chief conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra this fall, and he will make two highly anticipated appearances with this ensemble this week. On Saturday, July 19th at 8:30 PM he collaborates with the trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger in “Bridge,” a trumpet concerto by the prominent Swedish composer Rolf Martinsson, on a program that also features music by Brahms (the Third Symphony) and Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien .
