Sergio A. Mims writes:W,The Chineke! Orchestra has announced a new recording partnership with the major classical music label Decca Classics. The orchestra and label will form a new label to be called Chineke! Classics and the first release will be a recording of the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor including a performance of his violin concerto in G Minor with Elena Urioste as soloist. The recording will be released in September.

Eleanor AlbergaSergio Mims writes:WOn Tuesday June 21 I will be broadcasting on WHPK-FM Chicago the recent acclaimed Lyrita recording of Jamaican/British composer Eleanor Alberga's Violin Concerto No 1.A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London Ms. Alberga has composed numerous works for orchestra including 2 violin concertos, chamber music, work for solo piano and operas.This recording features the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Joseph Swensen and the solo violinist is Thomas Bowes who also happens to be Ms. Alberga's husband.Also on the pr0gram will be John Adam's oratorio The Gospel According to the Other Mary.
