A five-act opera written to a libretto by Amin Maalouf and based on the biography of troubadour, Jaufré Rudel, entitled La vida breve. Metropolitan Opera at Home - Saariaho's L'Amour De Loin. May 6, 2020.
Due to COVID-19, we have had a lock-down of various degrees of severity since early/mid-March. The Met has been putting out one opera per evening since then, access to which is free. As I write this (August 8), I realized that I have not been too keen to see them. Live performances are just a lot more appealing, evidently. Performance Date - December 10, 2016. Conductor - Susanna Malkki. Jaufre Rudel - Eric Owens; The Pilgrim - Tamara Mumford; Clemence - Susanna Phillips.
