Alfred Schnittke: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra | Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Symphony No.5 in E minor – Antoine Tamestit, SWR Symphonieorchester, Teodor Currentzis (HD 1080p)
[…] with an alla breve meter that keeps it moving. At the end of the reprise, Tchaikovsky writes six B major chords – a false cadence that invariably provokes applause – before the motto, now bedecked in alb and fanon, launches a major-key coda as long as the entire development section. It quickens to a Presto dash for the double bar before broadening at the very end for a triumphantly sonorous tetrad of "end-of-file" chords.Source: Roger Dettmer (allmusic.com)Alfred Schnittke (1934-1998)♪ Concerto for Viola and Orchestra (1985)i. Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No.6 in F major "Pastoral" – Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra (HD 1080p)
[…] "Thunderstorm; tempest" (Allegro; F minor, 4/4). From the first raindrop to last, this is purely depictive music. It is followed by a 10-bar chorale that segues the final "Shepherd's song; glad and grateful tidings after the storm" (Allegretto; F major, 6/8), a sonata-rondo, whose C-section some have called a development section. The fun includes a sly parody of amateur musicians before the long, progressively tranquil coda that ends with a pianistic gesture: two fortissimo chords.Source: Roger Dettmer (allmusic.com)Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)♪ Symphony No.6 in F major "Pastoral", Op.68 (1808)i. Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No.7 in A major – Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra (HD 1080p)
[…] returns in the final movement. Here more than anywhere else in his orchestral music, Beethoven became a race-car driver. As in the "slow" movement, the rhythm is 2/4, but sonata-form replaces ABA. And there's a grand coda longer than the exposition, the development, or the reprise, which, furthermore, begins in B minor! But modulations bring it back to A major in time for a heart-pounding final lap with the accelerator pressed to the floor.Source: Roger Dettmer (allmusic.com)Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)♪ Symphony No.7 in A major, Op.92 (1811-1812)i. Carl Orff: Carmina Burana – Ylva Stenberg, Brett Sprague, Olle Persson – Brunnsbo Musikklasser, Gothenburg Symphony Choir – Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Santtu-Matias Rouvali (HD 1080p)
[…] maiden, a cappella. A lovestruck double chorus follows with piano/percussion accompaniment. The soprano's "In trutina" is torn between love and modesty, only to be overwhelmed by an erotic concatenation of everyone (excepting roasted solo tenor), pierced by the soprano's stratospheric "Dulcissime" (most sweet one, I give my all to you). The culmination of "Cour d'amours" is "Banziflor et Helena", another paean to Venus triumphant over virtue. Finally there's the repetition of "Fortuna, imperatrix mundi".Source: Roger Dettmer (allmusic.com)Carl Orff (1895-1982)♪ Carmina Burana (1935-1936)Ylva Stenberg, sopranoBrett Sprague, tenorOlle Persson, baritoneBrunnsbo MusikklasserGothenburg Symphony ChoirGothenburg Symphony OrchestraConductor: Santtu-Matias RouvaliGothenburg Concert Hall, April 13, 2019(HD 1080p) Carmina Burana is structured into five major sections, containing 25 movements totalFortuna Imperatrix Mundi1.
