American pianist/composer Conrad Tao makes his Wigmore Hall
Conrad Tao (Photo Brantley Gutierrez)At 28, the American virtuoso Conrad Tao is making a name for himself both as a pianist and as a composer, and is one of those artists who successfully transition from child prodigy to mature artist. Yet his recitals always include an element of the surprising. On 13 July 2022 he makes his Wigmore Hall debut with a programme that moves from Bach and Beethoven to Schumann's Kinderszenen to John Adams' China Gates as well as music by jazz pianist Fred Hersch, a work by Jason Eckardt written for Tao and some of Tao's own pieces, and the whole recital begins with one of Tao's improvisations. Quite a feat.
