The Durban Symphonic Choir turns 50 this year and to celebrate, they are joining forces with the KwaZulu=Natal Youth Choir and the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra for a first-time performance of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem on Sunday, August 14 at 2.30 pm at St Joseph’s Cathedral, Mariannhill. This exciting and beautiful choral work, which blends words from the Latin requiems with Japanese Death poems, will be sung by 140 singers, with Naum Rousine conducting and Vanessa Tait-Jones as the soprano. The first half of the concert will include a variety of sacred music ranging from two items from The Messiah to the very beautiful Panis Angelicus sung by the youth choir. Tickets are R120 each, children under 12 free. Safe parking is available. For more information visit ici
