Shostakovich: Waltz (from "The Golden Mountains" film score, Op. 30) Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of New York Efrem Kurtz, conductor Recorded April 8, 1947, in Carnegie Hall, New York City, on American Columbia matrix XCO 37611, immediately following the same orchestra's recording of Shostakovich's Ninth Symphony, which I have uploaded separately. Issued late in 1948 as Columbia Masterworks 12881-D, coupled with Prokofiev's March, Op. 99.

Prokofiev: March in B-Flat, Op. 99 Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra of New York Efrem Kurtz, conductor Recorded April 20, 1946, in Carnegie Hall, New York City, on American Columbia matrix XCO 36176, immediately following the same orchestra's recording of Khatchaturian's "Gayne" Ballet Suite. Issued late in 1948 as Columbia Masterworks 12881-D, coupled with Shostakovich's Waltz from the film score "The Golden Mountains." The piece is originally for military band; here it has been orchestrated by Efrem Kurtz.
