Pavlo lysyi - Piano 00:00 - Andante 11:09 - Larghetto Théodore Akimenko (Fedir Yakymenko) +••.••(...)) was a Ukrainian Composer. From 1886 to 1895 he studied piano with the Russian composer and pianist Mili Balakirev. In 1900 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory (in the composition class of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Anatoly Liadov). In 1914 he was invited to teach composition and music theory at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (he worked until 1923). Among his students is the outstanding composer of the twentieth century Igor Stravinsky. After a short stay in Kharkiv from 1924 he worked for some time as a professor of music at the Ukrainian Higher Pedagogical Institute. Among his students were Zinova Lysko, Mykola Kolessa and others. From 1928 he lived in France (Nice, Paris), where he died. His younger brother was the composer Yakiv Stepovy. Yakymenko is one of the prominent representatives of the neo-romantic trend in the music of the twentieth century. with a noticeable influence of Impressionism. Among his works are two symphonies, symphonic poems, orchestral suite, overture, string trio, cello sonata, violin sonatas, numerous piano works (sonatas, fantasy sonatas, Ukrainian Suite, preludes). / Please support this channel (http•••)

Artem Shmahaylo (Violoncello) Live performing on June 24th, 2013 Karel Miry Concert Hall Koninklijke Academie van Schone Kunsten te Gent (Belgium) Artem was born in 1980 in Kryvyy Rih (Ukraine). Began to play Violoncello at age of 7 at Kryvyy Rih State Music School. From 1995 to 1999 studied at the Kryvyy Rih State Music College with Elvira Zaitseva. From 1999 to 2004 studied Master and Post-Graduate programs at the Lviv State Music Academy with prof. E. Shpitser, H. Kolessa and Y. Lanyuk. From 1999 to 2006 Artem worked in numerous ensembles and orchestras such as “Nova Art” String Quartet, “Classic-Modern” String Quartet, Ensemble of Contemporary Music “Pro et Contra”, International New Symphony Orchestra Lviv, Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv”, Symphony Orchestra of Opera Studio Lviv, etc. In 2003 he became a 1st prize winner at the International Competition of Young Performers “XXI Century Art”, Kyiv - Vorzel (2003). In the same year Artem became a special prize winner at the International Competition named after J. Brahms (Pörtschah, Austria). In 2007 Artem Shmahaylo gained III price in the III International Competition named after M. Lysenko, Kyiv, Ukraine. From 2006 to 2010 Artem worked with String Quartet. While this cooperation he visited over 70 countries across the world. From 2010 to 2013 he studied Master program at the Koninklijke Academie van Schone Kunsten te Gent (Belgium) with docent Judith Ermert. During Artem’s educational period he has taken masterclasses with world famous musicians such as Gunhard Mattes (Switzerland), Maria Tchaikovskaya (Russia), Lucas Fels (Germany), Åsa Åkerberg (Sweden), Alain Meunier (France), Conradin Brotbek (Germany), Razvan Suma (Romania), Ralph Kirshbaum (USA). Starting 2013 Artem began a variety of professional activities in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. He gives private lessons for those who loves music and wants to improve in cello playing. Artem organizes concerts and projects in Belgium and Ukraine. He performs a lot Solo on concerts and festivals such as “Manrock” in Mechelen, Belgium (2014) and “Bach Marathon” in Lviv, Ukraine (2015). With cooperation with Belgian and Georgian Embassies he organized a big concert performance of music by Giya Kancheli (Georgia-Belgium) with Artem (Ukraine-Belgium) as soloist and Steven Decraene (Belgium) on 20th Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts” in Lviv, Ukraine (2014). In November 2015 under the patronage of the Embassy of Kingdom of Belgium in Ukraine and personally Ambassador Luc Jacobs was organized the project “Classic for Peace” in Kiev National Opera House where Artem played concerto “Pour Isabel” for Violoncello and Orchestra by famous Belgian composer Sir Dirk Brossé with Lviv Academic Symphony Orchestra INSO-Lviv conducted by composer himself. Also in November 2015 Artem Shmahaylo became a member of European String Teachers Association in Belgium (ESTA Flanders). There are a lot of interesting ideas and projects coming up…
