Soprano Marta Eggerth -1912-2013 - in her dual CD album, "Marta Eggerth - My Life My Song" documents one of the most enduring international singing careers in operetta, film, lieder and opera with a recorded legacy of over 70 years. The tracks on CD-1 contain early recordings from the 1930's including opera arias from Puccini, Bellini and Rossini, and film hits. Marta Eggerth made 41 movies mostly before World War II. CD-2 spans her later recordings from 1955 to 2002 including live performances at age 78 and recordings made at age 90. These later recordings include her own medley arrangements from "The Merry Widow" and Emmerich Kalman’s operetta "Princess Csardas". She also sings the Broadway hit "Married" from "Cabaret", as well as lieder by Chopin, Ravel and songs from her Hungarian and Viennese repertoire. Photos from her life accompany each sound clip. Marta Eggerth remained active with appearances until the age of 100, and passed away at age 101. Marta Eggerth was married to the celebrated Polish tenor, Jan Kiepura with whom she sang over 2000 performances of Franz Lehár’s "The Merry Widow" in five languages. See (http•••) CD-1 01.
